What is the difference between a Dentist and a Dental Therapist?
This is a question Eamon gets asked quite frequently, and is happy to explain his role and Scope of Practice within the clinical team.
‘A Dental Therapist is a qualified Dental Hygienist that can also carry out restorative work, such as fillings and paediatric care for our younger patients such as fillings, extractions and crowns’.
Eamon is very well known by his caring manners, professionalism, treating nervous patients and patients with phobias to the dentist/hygienist. Eamon always endeavours to make the experience of the patient pleasant and relaxing. His experience in periodontal disease, implants and orthodontics allows him to explained to the patient what techniques are best to maintain their good oral health.
He is passionate about learning. Eamon is always trying to acquire new knowledge in dentistry through postgraduate education. Eamon also enjoys the dental therapy aspect of his profession doing composite bonding, teeth whitening and treating children/adult for filling within his scope of practice.
Away from the practice, Eamon is a foodie and spends a lot of time exploring new restaurants and chefs. He is very much a family centred gentleman, who enjoys his long walks (with Phil Collins playing in his ear!) and great times spent with friends.
